Emergency Situations

If we are in the situation of having to move out of our house the dogs would be kept with me wherever we ended up residing.

Depending on when and why we would find accomadtion that we would have them with us in a similar situation of still being in a home situation. I have family and friends in the local area that I would be able to ask for help.

If we were out somewhere and were delayed on returning to the dogs I have at least three people who I can contact and trust to take care of the dogs until we return. These three people have keys to be able to enter our house.

Risk Assessments

Monitoring Health and Welfare

This is constantly be assessed and any abnormalities noted in the diary to assess each day and if necessary notify the owners and gain Veterinary examination and treatment.

Risk Assessment

The gate is to be kept suit at all times. This will prevent escape of a dog.

The stair gate is in place to act as a secondary barrier which is between the kitchen and utility room.

Our girls have been bought up with our dog and respect her space and know when she is in her bed to leave her as that is her space. They also know not to approach a dog when they are eating, keep their face away from dogs faces, if a dog growls to leave them alone and inform me.

If the dogs need to be separated I would use the Utility room, Kitchen, Sitting room,Hallway and the other dog would be our own dog so would be allowed in our bedrooms and bathrooms.

Transportation

Dogs will be transported in my vehicle, which has business use insurance, securely attached in the boot or footwell with the use of harnesses and or a travel grill/ guard.

They will be transported to vets if necessary and with permission from the owners on family trips/walks with us.

Infection Control

No dog will be allowed onto our property without being full vaccinated and covered for Kennel Cough as well.

All bedding will be washed in between dogs staying.

All toys will be rotated and cleaned, disinfected after use from daycare and boarding dogs. I intend to have 3 boxes of toys which will be washed and rotated daily so they have different toys each day.

Feeding

The dogs will be feed their own food as the owners will be providing this when they bring them to stay. They will be fed their normal amount at the normal time and will be fed separately from other dogs unless from the same household and permission granted to fed them together.

Cleaning Schedule

Each day, at the end of the day, the floors will be hoovered washed with an appropriate disinfectant. The doorframes, door gates, water bowls will also be disinfected daily.

Death/ Escape

If in the very unfortunate event of a death the owner will be contacted (or the emergency contact if not able to contact owner) and explained the situation that has occurred and asked how they would like to have their deceased dog taken care of either by their vets or me personally via a cremation service.

If in the worrying event of an escapee I shall alert all local friends and residents after a thorough search of the local area myself. I shall inform local veterinary practices and give my contact details.  I would also contact Lost dog service online to obtain their help and advice for further thing places to inform.
